Jaasiel Barrientos Artist Headshot

Jaasiel Barrientos

Abstract Impressionism

Jaasiel Barrientos is a fine artist who has been living in LaGrange, GA for more than 25 years. He considers himself a self-taught artist, even though he has taken drawing classes, workshops, and learned from mentors. For more than a decade, he has continually studied, applied, and developed new techniques. His body of work includes charcoal drawings, painted portraits, impressionistic landscapes, and abstracts of varying types. Around the year 2015, he began exploring abstract art after his teacher and mentor James Kent Arnold introduced him to Josef Albers’ book The Interaction of Color.

In his quest to become an artist, the influence of several artists began to shape Jaasiel’s work — most notably Vincent van Gogh and Jackson Pollock. Abstract Expressionism has given Jaasiel the opportunity to channel his insight, talent, and imagination into developing his own techniques, allowing him to express himself and explore subjects like the universe through texture, composition, and color — particularly vibrant, rich colors.
