This piece was exhibited at the National Art Center Tokyo through Salon Blanc in 2023. It has the distinction of being the recipient of the Salon Blanc Honorary Chairman’s Award in an exhibition typically dominated by French and Japanese artists. Chris is the first American ever to win the award. The artist explains that the viewer is expected to make their own interpretation of the emotion behind the expression.
