This piece was exhibited at the National Art Center Tokyo through Salon Blanc in 2020.

The subject of this painting is Joy Marsters, one of about 50 people who inhabit the island of Palmerston in the Cook Islands. The island was settled by an English carpenter and his three Polynesian wives in 1863, making it the only Polynesian island whose native language is English.
