Ink sumi-e on Traditional Japanese Scroll Kakejiku 11.5”w x 28” h Addison was a student of Chris’s for several years; her work was featured at the Twitter Art Exhibit in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2019.
Ink Sumi-e Traditional Japanese Scroll Kakejiku 11.5”w x 28” h At just 13 years of age, Sophie has already exhibited three times at the National Art Center Tokyo and once at the Shirataka Cultural Exchange Center Museum of Art. Her next international exhibition is in January.
Coffee on Paper 55”w x 15”h Framed This piece was exhibited at the London Coffee Festival, London England, 2019. The subject is Chris’s former student assistant Isabel, who is also an accomplished artist. Many of her works appear in this exhibition.
Oil on canvas 25”w x 19”h Framed Wendi has participated in many exhibitions over the years, including the Twitter Art Exhibit in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2019.
Watercolour on paper 25.5”w x 31.5”h Framed This piece was inspired by a photograph Chris took of his student Isabel, who accompanied him on the trip to the Tokyo exhibitions in 2020. Isa- bel fell asleep on the Chuo Line train on the return trip to Tokyo from Mount Fuji.
Coffee on Paper 17”w x 21.5”h Framed This piece was exhibited at the Gallery Akatsuki in Ginza, Tokyo in 2021 through Salon Blanc. The subject of this painting is Aidyn, one of Chris’s students. Students appear frequently in Chris’s international work.
Watercolour on paper 22” w x 26”h Framed This piece was exhibited at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum through Salon Blanc in 2016. The subject of the painting is Maliwe, one of the children Chris taught at an orphanage in southern Zambia. The cane held by Maliwe is actually Chris’s, frequently borrowed by the orphanage children.
Ink Sumi-e and coffee Traditional Japanese Scroll Kakejiku 11.5”w x 28” h The enso, or circle, is a common theme in Japanese art; it represents strength, enlightenment, balance and harmony. Unclosed, the enso also suggests be- ginning and ending and wabi-sabi, the beauty of imperfection.

It has the distinction of being the recipient of the Salon Blanc Honorary Chairman’s Award in an exhibition typically dominated by French and Japanese artists.
